Tavistock, the ancient stannary town features our award winning Pannier Market granted in the year 1105 to the then local Abbey. The 1105 Royal Charter is still in operation and the Town Council are the current custodians.

A market is held every day of the week except Sundays and Mondays (seasonal)  This is definitely worth a visit.  Tavistock also has many craft, gift and small shops which are lovely to visit and we are sure you can spend a few hours browsing the delights.  Stop and enjoy a cream tea, lunch or an evening meal in one of the many hospitality venues in town.  You are sure of a warm welcome.  The town is steeped in history.  We have a museum you can visit to discover more. Heritage walks are often available and should be booked in advance.

Tavistock also has two swimming pools, various gyms, a beautiful park with children’s play area and tennis courts for outdoor enjoyment.

Princetown, the home of the historic Dartmoor Jail, still in use, is about five miles away and makes a spectacular site. The town has a interesting visitor centre plus good local pubs and cafes.

The Dartmoor Prison Visitor centre offers a fascinating insight into the colourful history of the prison and its inmates.  We are also surrounded by amazing history, historic buildings, tin mines, reservoirs and amazing natural structures.

We are surrounded by lovely pubs, restaurants and cafes.  Plymouth and Exeter are only a short drive for larger shops and services.

We are not far from local beaches.  A 30 minute drive and you will find yourself on the beautiful sandy beaches of Devon and Cornwall.

Why not check out our facebook page, instagram or our blog to see more of what our local area has to offer.  We also recommend the Visit Tavistock, Visit Dartmoor and Visit Tamar Valley website for varied and detailed information of whats on in our area.
