About

We would love to welcome you to Higher Longford, a family run park Michelle, and her family has been living and working here for over 30 years.  At Higher Longford Cottages you can enjoy the experience of Dartmoor, staying in one of our traditional stone built cottages, set amongst the foothills of the spectacular Dartmoor National Park and the abundance of nature.

Our family run park prides itself on providing a natural and well maintained environment for our customers (and wildlife too). Our holiday cottages are all of excellent quality with wooden furniture, fully equipped kitchens, central heating and bathrooms; a real home from home.

All our cottages have lovely gardens, with patio furniture to make the most of the sunshine.

Families are welcome. Dartmoor is a lovely family location and our cottages are designed to make your stay very comfortable.  It’s a great location for a base for touring Devon and Cornwall.

We are super dog friendly and your pets are also welcomed at Higher Longford. Plus you can enjoy our dog walk exercise area, available to entertain your dogs as well as your own well maintained gardens. Most of our gardens are secure for your dogs with high fenced gardens (except Sycamore who has 4ft fencing).

We meet most of the requirements of guests with special needs, including mobility, visual and hearing impairment. Ash Cottage was designed with special needs in mind. It has larger door openings and a large bathroom with a walk in shower.

On top of the lovely cottages you can also enjoy the other amenities our park has to offer:

Tavistock, the ancient stannary town features a Pannier Market granted in the year 1105 to the then local Abbey. The 1105 Royal Charter is still in operation and the Town Council are the current custodians.

A market is held every day of the week except Sundays and Mondays (seasonal)

Princetown, the home of the historic Dartmoor Jail, still in use, is about five miles away and makes a spectacular site. The town has a interesting visitor centre plus good local pubs and cafes.

The Dartmoor Prison Visitor centre offers a fascinating insight into the colourful history of the prison and its inmates.

We are surrounded by lovely pubs, restaurants and cafes.  Plymouth and Exeter are only a short drive for larger shops and services.

We are not far from local beaches.  A 30 minute drive and you will find yourself on the beautiful sandy beaches of Devon and Cornwall.
